All about matching

  • June Care matches families based on several factors. We do our best to match based on location and schedule, but we also factor in other preferences you share with us when you create your June Care profile. (This is a reminder to please make sure you have as complete of a profile as possible, so we can only present you with the best matches! You can update your profile in the app.)

    Beyond the basics, June Care has a proprietary matching algorithm that adds a fair amount of June Care Magic 💫 into all of the matches on our platform. Want to learn more…try a match for yourself and then you’ll understand. 🌈

  • Families look for Hosts who have been verified, background-checked and have testimonials. They also love seeing pictures. 

    Here's what you can do: 

    1. Add 3 - 5 testimonials to your profile by sharing this link with friends, neighbors and colleagues who have seen your parenting skills in action.

    2. Get verified. It takes just 15 minutes! Schedule your call with our Customer Success Team here

    3.  Complete your background check ($15) here

    4. Add more pictures of your home / place space / etc. to your profile.

    5. Upload a video to your profile here. 

    6. Apply to care requests near you. Even if it isn't a perfect match, offer what you can do to help!

    7. Share your profile using the share icon located at the bottom of your account. It's a great way to let other families in your community know you're available to help plus you get a $10 credit every time someone signs up using your link. 

  • There are two ways to add testimonials. And remember, even if you haven't hosted yet, a testimonial can come from anyone who knows you as a parent.

    1. Share / text / email this link to friends and neighbors.

    2. Request testimonials right from your profile by entering friends’ email addresses in the Add a Testimonial box.

  • The majority of June Care matches will take place at your home. However, we do occasionally have requests from families wanting care in their own home. You can specify on your profile which arrangement(s) you prefer.

  • This is between you and your matched family. However, if you will be driving the children, please let us know, since we need to run a driver’s safety check as part of your background check (at no additional cost to you).

    Please always notify your matched family anytime you are taking their children anywhere that was not previously agreed to prior to drop off.

  • Of course! All of the families who sign up for June Care are aware that the majority of the hosts are stay-at-home parents who do not have childcare of their own.

  • If a family is asking you to book outside of June Care, please remind them that you prefer to book through June Care so that:

    1. Your payment is guaranteed

    2. Your payment and personal information is protected

    3. You can continue to build your reputation and profile on the platform

    4. You can remain part of the June Care network and not risk your status as a June Care Host

    5. Your playdate is covered by the June Care Guarantee and the June Care Terms of Service.

    Remember, never accept cash or payment outside of June Care to ensure you are protected.

  • As a parent and a primary caregiver, you have the best, first-hand childcare experience! You do not need any additional formal childcare experience.

  • We want to make sure you feel great about your match, so here are some questions we suggest you ask in the first meeting with your matched families:

    1. What are the other child(ren)’s interests, hobbies? Favorite books/games/songs?

    2. Do(es) your child(ren) have a daily routine or schedule?

    3. Are there certain things that scare / upset your child(ren)?

    4. If your child(ren) get upset, what is the best approach to soothing him/her?

    5. Do your child(ren) have any food allergies?

    6. Do your child(ren) require a nap during the day? Does he/she use a pacifier / lovey?

    7. Is/are your child(ren) potty trained? Does he/she need prompting to use the bathroom?

    8. Any favorite snacks or items I can have on hand to help your child(ren) feel more comfortable?

    Make sure you listen and take notes… and share similar facts about yourself and your family so both sides of your June Care match can get to know each other and feel comfortable. You’ve got this!

All about the money

  • There is no service fee charged to June Care Hosts! June Care does charge a $15 background check fee prior to your first booking (one time, annually).

  • No.

    You are your own boss with June Care! June Care Hosts are independent contractors (1099s).

    Families who book you as their June Care Host may ask you directly for your contact information and SSN when filing their taxes or claiming their FSA benefit. This is handled directly between you and the families you are referred to via the platform.

  • June Care facilitates payments between Families and June Care Hosts to help you focus on your children, the children you are hosting and the connections you are making in your community.

    Make sure to set up your June Care Payout account (hosted by our partner, Stripe) from your account page here.

    In order to get paid, simply report the total hours you hosted for the week to June Care Support (from the inbox in your account). You will receive confirmation of your payout on the same day (or next day if you finish after 5PM) on your June Care Host Stripe Dashboard.

  • June Care Hosts set their own rates. For questions about what to charge in your local area, please reach out to June Care Support at support@junecare.co.

    Once the rate and schedule are set between you and the family, June Care manages the payments electronically for the duration of each match.

    ** Any June Care Host or Family met through the June Care network is required to book/be booked through June Care for any paid childcare arrangements. Payment must also be made through June Care and not directly between families. Violation of this standard qualifies both families for immediate suspension and permanent dismissal from the June Care network. Parents may also be liable for monetary damages owed to June Care per the June Care Terms of Service. **

  • You can update or change your rate any time from the profile section of your June Care App, under Preferences & Availability. From there, you can change your rate, mark it as flexible, and/or specify your rate for 1 or more children.

  • June Care does not employ their June Care Hosts, therefore, Hosts should claim any income taken in from care jobs found on June Care independently.

    While June Care does not give advice on tax obligations and issues, we do encourage you to seek professional tax advice for personal income tax questions and assistance.

  • No problem! If you are currently in an on-going match, please let us (and your match, of course) know when you will be out of town. We will work with your match to find them a temporary solution until you are back!

    If you aren’t currently in an on-going match, just let us know when you are planning to be out of town so we know you aren’t available or (if you forget to let us know), simply decline any June Care Requests that come your way for dates when you are unavailable.

  • You can update your profile anytime from the account page in your June Care account.

    Simple click on manage profile to edit or add any information you’d like to change. Be sure to preview it to make sure it looks the way you want it to look!
